Mathematical Language Routines (MLRs) are not add-ons or supports for a few students—they are high-leverage instructional routines that improve sensemaking, discourse, and equity for all learners. In this one-hour Lunch & Learn, participants will examine the purpose and structure of core MLRs and explore how they function as instructional moves that surface student thinking, reduce linguistic barriers, and promote productive struggle.

Through concrete classroom examples, participants will unpack how MLRs support conceptual understanding, precision in language, and student-to-student reasoning—without lowering rigor.
