The newly released 2026 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements for Communication and Intercultural Communicative Competence provide world language educators with an updated, field-defining framework for describing what learners can do with language across proficiency levels. This Lunch-and-Learn session will unpack the structural revisions and expanded intercultural dimensions embedded in the updated resource and examine implications for curriculum design, performance assessment, and daily instructional planning.

Participants will explore how the revised Can-Do Statements more precisely articulate the continuum of learner growth across the Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Superior, and Distinguished proficiency bands.
