What does it actually look like for a school to help students catch up academically—and stay on a trajectory toward long-term success? TNTP’s report The Opportunity Makers: How a Diverse Group of Public Schools Helps Students Catch Up — and How Far More Can spotlights a small set of “trajectory-changing” schools where students gain more than 1.3 years of learning per year and maintain that growth over a decade.

In this interactive Zoom session, participants will explore the three core practices these schools have in common—belonging, consistency, and coherence—and examine how TNTP’s Opportunity Makers Toolkit and Baseline Assessment can inform local improvement work. Through reflection, breakout discussions, and quick action-planning, leaders and teachers will leave with one concrete “catalyzing practice” to strengthen the academic experience for students who are currently behind.
