How do we get students engaged in their own learning and interested in content across the curriculum? Join your teaching colleagues in grades 4-12 for a full-day professional learning session focused on one of the most powerful influences on student achievement: teacher clarity. We will examine the four critical components of teacher clarity—organization, explanations, examples, and assessments—and discover how these elements tie into adolescent literacy practices to help educators make informed instructional decisions, maintain focus on the bigger picture of learning, and create optimal learning experiences for all students. Participants will leave with a bevy of clear engagement strategies and a stronger understanding of the difference between basic literacy, intermediate literacy, and disciplinary literacy in order to begin developing highly engaging classrooms where every student has the access and opportunity to succeed.
